Depending on which competition shooters fire at either Air A/89 or PL14 targets at a distance of 20 yds from a free standing position. It uses either .22 calibre rimfire  rifles or air rifles.

 Competitions are normally classed as any sights but generally most people use telescopic sights with a magnification factor between 9 and 16 times.​
